WHAT IS
Couture
The word "couture" is simply the French term for "sewing". Today we use the term when referring to pieces of clothing that are individually made by hand for the wearer. Through a series of fittings using a muslin mock-up (or toile), the couturier fits and eventually finishes the final garment to fit only the wearer. There are many hand-sewing techniques that can be used, and the choice of techniques is left to the couturier.

The dress features an inner corselet, fully boned with spiral steel boning, foam cups and a silk lining. This dress closes in back with hand-covered buttons and a zipper in the skirt. Colleen has incorporated a petticoat inside the skirt of this dress to create a full shape.
Fabric and petticoat color options are available. Contact Colleen for details.
